Iridium is Closing

Posted 6th October 2018

Iridium Magazine is closing its doors. A combination of circumstances lead to this decision: I (Jasmine Hong) lost my job (semi-voluntarily), which resulted in loss of health insurance/care, financial security, and housing. My situation has improved recently, but the resultant instability has made it all but impossible to keep Iridium going. I agonized over this decision for quite some time, and did consider simply putting Iridium on hiatus, but I thought it would be unfair to our authors, subscribers, and the community in general when I simply don’t know when or if I will ever recuperate enough to run Iridium effectively.

My team and I still firmly believe in our mission. We hope you do, too.

I thank you all for the support you have given us and encourage you to continue to support QUILTBAG+ publications if you can find them. Anathema Magazine is a good place to start. They are currently running a subscription drive. Please consider giving them the support you gave us.

Moving forward, I will be contacting authors whose work we still have in our inbox, contacting published authors with more information, and refunding paid subscribers.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us by email or on Twitter.

Submissions Changes

Posted 6th February 2018

Hi All,

Unfortunately Iridium must make some changes to its submissions dates. Instead of having open reading periods every four months, we will be having a reading period every six months. This is due to delays in our first issue, which we are dealing with now.

So, our new schedule is as follows:

Open reading periods from October 1 to December 15th and April 1st to June 15th. The issues will be released February to March and August to September.

Thank you all for your patience,
